Advocacy in Action: Strategies for the Iowa Legislature

Advocacy in Action is a skill-building webinar created for individuals who want to increase their confidence and effectiveness during the Iowa legislative session. This interactive training begins with foundational advocacy concepts, then moves into practical, hands-on strategies for understanding legislative processes, tracking key developments, and building relationships that support meaningful policy engagement. The session takes place December 18 from 1:30 to 3:00 pm as a live online webinar.

Participants will receive a step-by-step walkthrough of the Iowa Legislature’s website, including how to track bills, follow subcommittee assignments, interpret fiscal notes, and access live-streamed committee meetings. The training also provides an overview of the legislature’s current structure, recent leadership transitions, and changes in committee chairs.
